Admission requirements at Sheridan College for international students include official high school results and post-secondary school transcripts for graduate programs.

Each program has its minimum grade requirements but the requirements range between 60 to 65% in most cases.

You may also be required to have your documents assessed by ICAS Canada or World Education Services (WES)

You need any of the following requirements in the IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBT test. No other tests will be accepted.

TOEFL iBT – overall score of 91 with 21 in listening, 23 in speaking, 22 in reading, and 25 in writing.

You may also demonstrate proficiency in the English Language by taking Sheridan’s ESL Program or by attending a school whose primary language of instruction is English for a determined number of years.

Sheridan’s English Language Studies (ESL) program is a program you can take if you do not have any other means of proving proficiency in the English Language.

The program exposes students to the needed skills for comprehending the English Language while offering them a certificate useful as proof of knowledge of English for Academic Purposes.

Sheridan’s ESL program spans 1 year (2 semesters) and is available at Hazel McCallion and the Trafalgar Road Campus.

If you have already taken a language proficiency test such as IELTS and TOEFL but do not meet the minimum requirement for admission at Sheridan College, you can also take the ESL program.

You will be placed on the level appropriate for you based on your English test scores. The five levels of instruction are Foundations, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Advanced, and English for Academic Purposes (EAP).

Students who have completed some levels of education do not need to demonstrate proficiency in the English Language if they meet any of the following requirements:

  • Completion of three full years (minimum) of study at an accredited secondary school or examination board. The school must be recognized by Sheridan and the language of instruction must be English.
  • Completion of two full years (minimum) of study in an accredited college. The college must be recognized by Sheridan and the language of instruction must be English.
  • Completion of one full year of study at an accredited university. The university must be recognized by Sheridan and the language of instruction must be English.
  • Completion of one full year of study in an accredited college for a post-graduate certificate. The college must be recognized by Sheridan and the language of instruction must be English.
  • Completion of an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program. The program should cover High or Standard Level English A: Literature, English A: Language and Literature, or English A: Literature and Performance.

Applying to Sheridan College as an International Student

You may apply to Sheridan College during the September or January intake for the Fall or Winter terms respectively.

Firm Offer of Admission

If you meet all admission requirements and your admission is valid and finalized, you will receive a firm offer of admission with a letter of acceptance. You must accept the offer before the stipulated deadline through ontariocolleges.ca.

Conditional Offer of Admission

A conditional offer must be accepted just like a firm offer. However, there are certain conditions that you must meet before the deadline for the offer to become firm. If you do not meet those conditions, your offer may be rejected.
