Alabama university was founded in 1831 as a public research university that is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The institution is a home for approximately 30,000 undergraduate students with a student-faculty ratio of 21:1. The programs offered at Alabama University allows students to work full-time for a year in the related field of their studies while studying. Students who participate in this program will alternate work for one semester and study the next semester. Some students will simultaneously receive a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree while some will require additional time to complete a Master’s degree.

Alabama University Rankings

The institution is ranked high in many ranking systems. US News Rankings has ranked University of Alabama to be 103rd among all the national universities and 46th among all public universities. In addition, the engineering department has been also be ranked placing 105th in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Program. Another famous ranking agency which is the Forbes Rankings has ranked University of Alabama to be 205th among all Colleges in the US and 70th among all public colleges. Also, It has been ranked as the 115th in Research Universities and 47th in the South. With these rankings, it shows that this state university is among one of the best universities in the US.

University of Alabama Scholarships (Undergraduate)

The university does not award need-base scholarship. Its scholarship is based on GPA and SAT/ACT scores. Students with certain GPA and SAT/ACT scores will automatically receive Alabama University Scholarships for that range. These scholarships are for both national and international students.

In 2018, the institution changed its scholarships policy. The university offered full tuition scholarships in 2017, for Presidential but it has changed the amount of the scholarship to  $25,000 per year which is slightly less than full-tuition. In addition, the school has added tier of scholarships called the Presidential Elite Scholarships which is mainly for those who have achieved perfect GPA and perfect SAT/ACT scores.

University of Alabama Academic Scholarship 

Presidential Elite- Students who scored 36 ACT or 1600 SAT, and 4.0 GPA will automatically be qualified for full tuition scholarships for all four years, one year of room, $1,000 per year stipend for four years, $2,000 for summer research or international study, and $500 book allowance for all for years. Presidential- Students with 33 ACT or 1490 SAT score or higher,  and 3.5 GPA will automatically be qualified for $25,000 a year. UA Scholar-Students with 30-32 ACT  or 1390-1480, and 3.5 GPA will automatically be qualified for 2/3 tuition scholarship for four years ($17,976 per year).in fact, there are other scholarship for students with lower ACT and GPA.

University of Alabama Engineering Scholarship

This scholarships are only for student ts who wish to pursue a degree in engineering. Students in other academic fields also have other scholarships to apply for, but those are not automatic scholarships.

Engineering Leadership Tier- Students who scored 30 ACT or 1390 SAT or higher will receive $2,500 per year scholarship which will stack on top of Academic Scholarship.Dean’s Engineering Excellence Tier- Students with 27-29 ACT scores or 1280-1380 SAT scores will receive $1,500 per year scholarship which will stack on top of Academic Scholarship.

Application Dates

Scholarships application opens in August 1 and closes in December 15 for University of Alabama scholarship consideration. Application is done through the University of Alabama portal and not the Common Application. This institution does not accept Common Application nor Coalition Application unlike other universities. It uses its own school application portal.

In order to be successful, you need to have a SAT or ACT scores which happened s to be the college entrance exams in USA.
