Algoma University also offers course in its satellite campuses at Brampton and Timmins, Ontario.
Algoma University was founded in 1965, and was an affiliate college of Laurentian University in Sudbury, not until June 18, 2008, when it became officially known as Algoma University College. Made possible by the legislation of the Algoma University Act in 2008, becoming the 19th University in Ontario, Canada, it is also the smallest university in Ontario.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT
Below is the minimum English language requirements for international applicants whose first language is not English, therefore, to apply as an international student, you must meet one of these English language test.
- If you are an applicant who has not met the English language requirements you can also get admitted through the university’s English for Academic Purposes Program (EAPP).
- Once you complete the program at level 4 or 5 with a grade of 80% and above you will be credited to have satisfied the English Language requirement, this will award you 3 credits toward your academic studies
- This Pathway however is not applicable to students applying to any programming in the School of Business and Economics.
- Also if you are applying for admission at the Timmins campus of the institution you will be assessed on an individual basis.

What is considered to be an official transcript?
By definition an official transcript is a transcript that has been sent directly by the issuing institution or education authority using the sending institution’s security features (e.g., secure paper, institutional seal, secure digital encryption, etc.) and which has not been handled by the student in any way.
Official transcripts are often requested for a number of reasons, these will include the following but not limited to:
- Confirmation of a student’s unconditional admission,
- Transfer credit evaluations,
- Scholarship assessment, or
- Cases of suspected fraudulent documents.

HOW TO APPLY

- Should you have achieved 28 points, with a minimum grade of 5 in either Standard (SL) or Higher (HL) Level courses, you would have gained consideration for credit transfer.
- Note, that transfer credits are often given for a maximum of 30 credits, which is equivalent to year one of full-time study. Credits will be assessed on an individual basis.

To be eligible for admission in Algoma University, candidates must meet the following criteria:
