B.C. Issues Invitations To 158 Immigration Candidates To Apply For Provincial Nomination
British Columbia immigration held a new provincial draw, issuing invitations to apply to 158 immigration candidates with specific criteria related to the coronavirus outbreak.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) conducted this new draw on May 19. Applicants were invited from the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC immigration class.
Provincial score requirements differs by program. The score requirements for the two Express Entry British Columbia subcategories were:
- Skilled Worker: 110
- International Graduates: 110
The 158 immigration candidates invited under these subcategories have to have valid profiles in the federal Express Entry system. Now that they have been granted invitations for a provincial nomination from B.C., they now have the opportunity to win an extra 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points if they obtain the provincial nomination. This will effectively assures that they will obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a upcoming federal Express Entry draws.
The score requirements for the three Skills Immigration subclasses were:
- Skilled Workers: 100
- International Graduates: 103
- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 81
This draw was affected by the impact of COVID-19 on British Columbia businesses. A number of sales and service occupations were exclude and removed from the draw.
The May 19 draw saw British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program officials exclude thirty-one (31) occupations.
As a result of the impact of the pandemic, the following were excluded from the May 19 draw:
0621 – Retail and wholesale trade manager
0631 – Restaurant and food service managers
0632 – Accommodation service manager
0651 – Manager in customer and personal services, n.e.c.
3236 – Massage therapists
6211 – Retail sale supervisors
6311 – Food service supervisor
6313 – Accommodations, travel, tourism and related services supervisors
6321 – Chefs
6322 – Cooks
6341 – Hairstylist and barbers
6421 – Retail salesperson
6511 – Maîtres d’hôtel and hosts/hostesses
6512 – Bartender
6513 – Food and beverage servers
6521 – Travel counselors
6522 – Purser and flight attendants
6523 – Airline ticket and service agent
6524 – Ground and water transport ticket agent, cargo service representatives and related clerks
6525 – Hotel front desk clerk
6531 – Tour and travel guides
6532 – Outdoor sports and recreational guides
6533 – Casino occupations
6562 – Electricians, electrologists and related occupations
6564 – Other personal services occupations
6611 – Cashiers
6621 – Service station attendant
6711 – Food counter attendants, kitchen helper and related support occupations
6721 – Support occupation in accommodation, travel and facility set-up services
6722 – Operators and attendant in amusement, recreation and sports
6731 – Light duty cleaners
Candidates who were invited in the May 19 draw now have up to thirty (30) calendar days to lodge a complete application to the British immigration office for the provincial nomination.
