British Columbia Invites 87 Immigration Candidates In New Tech Pilot Draw

British Columbia invited 87 immigration candidates with a job offers in the province’s tech sector to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence on June 23.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Tech Pilot draw conducted today rolled out invitations to applicants under the Express Entry B.C and Skills immigration categories.

The 87 immigration candidates who were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subclass needed a minimum provincial score of eighty (80).

The June 23rd draw saw the minimum score remain in the low 80s, as has been the case for Tech Pilot draws since the start of May.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot is a fast-track immigration route for in-demand technology workers and international students.

The pilot project was inaugurated in 2017 and has been extended many times, most recently until June 2021.

In order to be considered qualified for this program, candidates need to be registered in one of British Columbia’s existing provincial immigration streams and have a valid job offer of at least twelve (12) months in one of the Tech Pilot’s twenty-nine (29) eligible occupations.

To apply for the Express Entry BC Skills Immigration categories candidates must first create a valid profile through the BC PNP’s online portal and apply under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Applicants are accessed and issued a score based on factors such as level of work experience, educational qualifications proficiency in English and location of employment.

Express Entry candidates who get a nomination from British Columbia will be given an extra 600 points toward their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and are practically assured an Invitation To Apply (ITA) in a future federal Express Entry draw.

So far in June, British Columbia has held six (6) draws through its various PNP streams and categories and invited 729 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

Invited candidates have thirty (30) calendar days to apply for the nomination.
