British Columbia Issues 290 Invitations To Candidates In New Provincial Draw

British Columbia issues 290 invitations in its first general draw in a month through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.

The Feb, 27 draws targeted international graduates and skilled workers through five BC PNP streams. The last general draw was conducted on January 28.

Skilled workers through the direct provincial streams required at least 103 points to qualify, compared to the 115 points required through the Express Entry-aligned skilled worker stream.

The direct provincial program for international graduates registered a minimum score of 108 points, with the Express Entry-aligned stream requiring 112 points to qualify.

Entry-level and semi-skilled workers required eighty-five (85) points.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been extended into 2020 after its first launch in 2017. Presently, it has a list of Twenty-nine (29) target occupations with relaxed duration requirement.

BC PNP draws focus specifically at technology workers started in May 2017. The province has a thriving tech industry with some big names of the technology world basing themselves in Canada’s westernmost province.

A coveted provincial nomination effectively assures selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

British Columbia government recently announced it will stop announcing scores for guaranteed Invitations to Apply through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.

Instead, the province says candidates can view the scores needed by checking the draw details published each week since 2016 when it started its version of Expression of interest immigration.
