Standard Admission for Certificate Programs

As a prospective student applying for certificate programs, including the Health Care Aide Alberta Provincial Curriculum Certificate, you will be required to possess the following qualifications:

  • 1a. English (grade 12) and math (grade 10) or equivalent from another Canadian province, as verified by transcripts.
  • OR
  • 1b. GED (score of 450 in LA and 400 in Math)
  • 2a. Be 18 years of age or older
  • OR
  • 2b. Be 17 years of age, with a high school diploma (secondary school certificate)

Standard Admission for Diploma Programs

If your choice of the program as a student is to apply for a diploma program, you will be required to possess the following qualifications:

  • 1a. English (grade 12) and math (grade 12) or equivalent from another Canadian province, as verified by transcripts.
  • OR
  • 1b. GED (score of 450 in LA and 450 in Math)
  • 2a. Be 18 years of age or older
  • OR
  • 2b. Be 17 years of age, with a high school diploma (secondary school certificate)

Note: Some programs have Program Specific Requirements that must be fulfilled before admission is granted.

Mature Admission

Cambrooks College will also consider you as a mature student, even if you may not possess the above qualifications, because:

  • You are 25 years or older.
  • If you have obtained a satisfactory result on an equivalency test, you should obtain at least a 60% in the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test administered by the college.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • If your first language is English, you are not required to provide proof of ELP; instead, you must show evidence of passing Grade 12 English (or an equivalent course) at the credit level. 
  •  If you have completed four or more years of full-time study achieving satisfactory academic progress in a Canadian school, you are not required to provide proof of English facility; instead, you must show evidence of passing Grade 12 English (or an equivalent course. 
  •  You must present proof of English facility if you have less than four years of full-time study in a Canadian school. 
  •  If your first language is other than English, and you have completed four years or more in a country where the dominant language is English, you are not required to provide proof of ELP; instead, you must show evidence of having passed Grade 12 English. 
  •  If you have less than four years in a country where the dominant language is English, you must present evidence of ELP.

NECESSARY CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION

1. Your English Language Proficiency tests must not be more than two years old.

2If you are a Canadian Resident, you must show proof of residency, such as your passport, PR card, or refugee status. Otherwise, if you are an international student, you will be required to show a valid study visa.

3. Nevertheless, if you are a candidate from the following countries, you are exempt from having to send proof of English language proficiency:

NOTE: Once you sign the admission acceptance contract, a fee of $500 is due for you. This fee can be used to offset part of the fees owing on registration. Your full fee payment on registration will exempt you from future fee increases.
