According to Nov 17, 2017 regulation, all Canadian workers are entitled to work in environments where hazards to their health and safety are properly protected. The primary responsibility for this care is placed upon employers under the health and safety law. Employers have a mandate to discuss with their employees, or their representatives, on health and safety matters.
By Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 1974. This Act places a legal duty on employers to provide, so far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare of employees, and to make sure that employees and others are kept safe (Dec 12, 2013).
It is also an employer’s responsibility to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees and other persons who can become affected by their business. Employers are duty bound to do whatever is reasonably practicable to achieve optimal safety. According to the March 13, 2018 safety law regulation, employers must assess risks in the workplace.
What Is OHS Canada?
Health Canada regulates occupational health and safety (OHS) issues by coordinating the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and inspect workplace radiation exposure. Health Canada also offers federal employees assistance services and occupational health services.
