Did you know that Ontario has opened a Stream to invite Immigrant Entrepreneurs? Ontario is the most populous Canadian province. Has a territory with a population of 13,448,494. Ontario is a province in east-central Canada that borders the U.S. and the Great Lakes.
It is home to Ottawa, Canada’s capital, known for Parliament Hill’s Victorian architecture and the National Gallery, featuring Canadian and indigenous art. Toronto, Ontario’s capital, is home to the 553m-high CN Tower, with expansive views from its revolving restaurant, as well as Provincial Algonquin High Park, site of a rare oak Savannah habitat.
The Government of Ontario has opened 16 new invitations to apply to entrepreneurs in a draw held September 21. The minimum score for the latest draw was 117.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)’s Entrepreneur Stream is designed to bring in foreign persons (immigrant entrepreneurs) who are looking forward to buying an existing business or start a new business in Ontario.
The stream operates on an ‘Expression of Interest’ (EOI) design that expects interested candidates to complete a profile and give information on a number of factors related to their work experience, investments and human capital.
Candidates will get their score based upon their answers, and the maximum score available is 170 points. Successful applicants will be required to obtain a temporary work permit support letter based on a performance agreement to secure the business in Ontario.
Candidates who keep up to the investment and job creation requirements spelt out in the performance agreement may then be nominated by Ontario for Canadian permanent residence.
