Canada Releases List of Government-Authorized Hotels For Quarantine
The federal government of Canada released a list of some of the hotels approved to host international air travelers for the mandatory quarantine requirements. Beginning on February 22, international air travelers to Canada must take a COVID-19 test upon arrival. They must then wait for the results of this test in government-authorized hotels for up to three (3) days.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had previously announced the new measure to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in January. At that time, he estimated the cost to travelers could be about $2,000.
However, the Canadian Press reports that the cost to travelers is much lower. For example, two Toronto Pearson International Airport hotels announced that their mandatory quarantine program goes from $319 to $339 for a single person.
The Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is going for $1,272 plus tax, including food for three (3) days and security.
These government-authorized hotels are situated in the four Canadian cities presently accepting international air travel: Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
According to the government webpage, this is only part of the full list, as more will be finalized in the coming days.

New quarantine requirements for air travelers
Before air travelers take off to Canada, they need to provide a negative COVID-19 test before boarding the plane.
They will then be tested again once they land in Canada. As per the new measure going into force on February 22, these travelers must also wait for their test results in one of the previously mentioned government-approved hotels.
Once they obtain the results, they are instructed to carry out the rest of the mandatory fourteen (14)-day quarantine in their homes. From there, they must take another COVID-19 test in the last few days of their quarantine. Again, testing kits and instructions will be available before travelers leave the airport.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Canada’s list of government-authorized quarantine hotels will ensure that travelers who are required to quarantine can do it safely and securely. As more people travel in the coming months, Canadians can rest assured that they have a secure place to stay where they can avoid spreading the virus. In addition, those in quarantine will benefit from having access to high-quality amenities and services during their stay.
