Canada Resumes Visitor Visa And eTA Processing July 1

Canada is once again processing online application for a visitor visa and electronic travel authorizations as of July 1.

Though travel restrictions still applies, Canada’s immigration ministry (IRCC) is resuming processing in an effort to be proactive on future processing times, according to a media report.

IRCC also notes that due to present travel restrictions, most people will be unable to travel to Canada at this time. Travel exemptions are for family members who are staying for more than fifteen (15) days or who are travelling to Canada for an essential reason, temporary skilled workers, and others.

Travellers must also show to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) that they are travelling for an essential purpose in order to be granted entry to Canada.

IRCC is also processing online application for work permits, study permits and Canadian permanent residence. No paper applications for these immigration documents will be accepted and processed for now.

Canada has put in place measures to ensure candidates have the time they need to complete all steps of the application process, including providing their biometrics. There are several visa application centres (VACs) reopening in some countries around the world.

It is still mandatory to quarantine for fourteen (14) days for all travellers who enter Canada from abroad. It is also required that travellers present border agents with an adequate quarantine plan.

Earlier today, Canada announced it was expanding its travel restrictions until at least July 31.
