Every year, Canada accepts about 300,000 skilled and unskilled immigrants through the Federal Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs and because of these reasons, there are Tens of thousands of people who are interested to immigrate to Canada each year.

In the process of preparing your immigration applications, beware of such factitious program called “Canada Visa Lottery” or “Canada Immigration Lottery”.

Some immigration websites will advertise that they do offer such services, but some may be scams.

If an immigration agent or consultancy assures or promise you about a Canadian visa or immigration lottery, please report them to Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), as such programs does not exist.

There are ,however, several legitimate immigration options available to prospective migrants to move to Canada.

Is Express Entry an Immigration Lottery?

While the Express Entry program uses a point-based systems and regular draws, it is not a lottery but rather a merit based system that uses CRS score to nominate candidates for permanent residency. The Express Entry progam aims to reduce the hassle of applying to immigrate.

You will apply for an application to enter the Express Entry pool and will be allotted a CRS score base on your responses. Intermittently, Canadian immigration does an Express Entry draw.

This process nominates candidates that have above a certain CRS score. If you are nominated, you have 60 to 90 days to file an application for immigration. If you are not selected, you remain in the pool to be selected in the future draws.

In addition to the main Express Entry, many of the Canadian provinces will use your Express Entry profile or their respective PNP’s programs to see if you are eligible to immigrate to that province.

If you wish to migrate to Canada, it’s best you secure the assistance of an approved and accredited immigration firm to help you with the immigration application processes.
