Everything You Should Know About Canada Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration program that allows foreign nationals or students who have worked in Canada for at least one year to immigrate permanently.

Canada Experience Class was created for individuals who have been living in Canada for some time and have good proficiency in English or French and also have gained suitable work experience in the period of their stay.

These people residing as temporary foreign workers or as foreign students may be allowed to settle permanently in Canada under the Canada Experience Class.

The federal government of Canada recognizes the economic impact and experience these group of talented workers could add to the economic strength of the country and wants them to become permanent residents.

Prior to 2015, Canadian Experience Class applications processes were operated on a first-come, first served basis. But, since 2015, Canadian Experience Class applications are processed under the Express Entry system.

Express Entry system basically allows IRCC to invite qualified candidates to make an application for the Canadian permanent residence.

These eligible candidates have all made a formal ‘Expression of Interest’ in settling permanently in Canada. They create an online Express Entry profile and enter the pool, where they are assigned a score and ranked accordingly under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) based on some factors such as age, work experience, language abilities, educational qualifications, adaptability etc.

Canadian Experience Class eligibility criteria

CEC applicants must:

  • Plan on living outside of the province of Quebec.
  • Must possess at least One year experience of skilled work experience for a full time, or equivalent in part-time within Three (3) years before applying.
  • Must meet the level of the language requirements for each of the language abilities of speaking, reading, listening and writing.
  • Must possess a gained work experience that is suitably authorized

The Canadian Experience Class process

As a first step, the applicant should fill the appropriate application forms online and be sure that each of the forms is filled out accurately and completely and furthermore, the applicant has to take a language test (i.e IELTS or CLB) and include the test results along with the application.

For the next step, the applicant should pay the processing fees. While applying for a visa under Canada Experience Class, one has to include all information of family members or dependents who may be accompanying the applicant to Canada, as these members determine the total fees to be paid.

After paying for the fees, the application will be evaluated based on the eligibility criteria. If in case, an applicant is found to be not eligible then the application will be rejected and the applicant will be refunded the fees. But, if an applicant is found eligible, then the application will be sent for further processing.

For the final step, the individual has to submit the application and before that the applicant must ensure that the application form is correctly filled, including the supporting documents and the processing fees.
