Express Entry Application Deadline Reduced By 60 Days

The reinstatement to the 60-day deadline, according to IRCC, will allow the department to handle more applications.

Express Entry application deadline for immigration candidates has now been reduced. Applicants will now have 60 days to submit their application after receiving their invitation.

As of June 29, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is reversing the COVID-19 legislation, allowing Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence within 90 days.

The immigration department reported the change in a press release.

The application deadline was extended by IRCC in March 2020 as part of a series of new coronavirus-related measures.

It was designed to give immigration applicants extra time to prepare their paperwork.

The pandemic had just swept the world at the time, creating service interruptions and aircraft cancellations.

The reinstatement to the 60-day deadline, according to IRCC, will allow the department to handle more applications.

Special consideration for applicants affected by coronavirus-related public health restrictions

There will still be some special considerations for applicants who are subject to public health limitations due to the coronavirus. On its government webpage, the IRCC provides a comprehensive list.

Generally, they apply to those who have not yet applied for Canadian immigration, applicants who are still being processed, and holders of the Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR).

Candidates who were asked to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry before June 29, 2021, will have 90 days to submit their application.

As a result, those who were selected in the previous Express Entry draw remain unaffected.

The new rule will apply to Express Entry applicants who will be invited in the coming weeks.

Since 2018, a 60-day application period has been in place.

After seeing that 57% of candidates applied within two months, IRCC shortened it from 90 days.

This reversal of coronavirus measures comes just over a week after Canada opened its border to COPR holders.

It waived quarantine for fully vaccinated travelers, and reinstated direct flights to Pakistan.

Canada Have So Far Prioritized On Domestic Candidates

Canada has received nearly twice as many Express Entry applicants this year as it did at the same time last year.

The enormous number stems from the record February 13 draw, in which IRCC invited all 27,332 CEC-eligible candidates in the pool.

According to an IRCC email, almost 87 percent of individuals invited that day applied for permanent residency before the 90-day limit.

Although Canada’s travel restrictions are beginning to ease, the border remains closed to non-essential travel, and the India airline ban has been prolonged for another month.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, the federal government intends to admit an unprecedented number of new immigrants over the next three years.

108,500 new immigrants are expected to enter the country through Express Entry.

Canada has received nearly twice as many Express Entry applicants this year as it did at the same time last year.

The immigration ministry invites the highest-scoring candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws.

After you apply, an immigration officer at IRCC makes a decision on your application.

If you are approved, the last step is to finish your landing process and officially become a permanent resident.
