Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
The Ontario Student Assistance Program provides financial supports for higher education students in the province of Ontario.
Such financial support comes as either grants or loans and students who apply are considered for both but they can decline a loan if they are not interested in one.
OSAP is open to students studying in Ontario who are Canadian citizens or permanent. The program particularly favors students who are in need of financial assistance and have not defaulted on a student loan in times past.

Definition of Terms
Many times, we find the words scholarships, grants, bursaries, awards, etc. used interchangeably.
However, this does not all mean the same thing though they are all forms of financial aids. Below, a brief definition of each term has been given to help you understand them better and discover how each one may apply to you at any point in time.
Scholarships
A scholarship is financial support given in form of a gift to students who merit the. Scholarships are usually awarded to students who show exceptional academic performance, demonstrate excellent leadership and community participation prowess, or display unique talents in certain fields such as art, dance, and music.
While many scholarships are given to students without having to make any prior application, students may also apply for specific scholarship opportunities available in their schools. Such will usually require students to sit for exams and meet certain cut-off points.
