The Average annual wage for a private fleet trucker, like as  Walmart truck driver, is $73,000. The Labor Department pegs the average annual salary for all truck drivers at $40,000. Though it is one of the tasking truck driving jobs to fill.

Student truck drivers make an average of $41,000 a year. CDL truck drivers make an average of $66,000 a year. OTR CDL truck drivers earn the most, with average salaries of $82,000 a year. Team truck drivers make an average of $71,000 each per year.

DOES TRUCK DRIVERS GET PAID HOURLY?

These averages sum up to be $45,219 per year based on a 40 hour workweek. Local, van delivery drivers and route drivers range between $8.67 and $28.10 each hour. The average pay for a light truck driver (route driver), is $13.98 per hour. It differs on the job and the duties added to it.

Truck drivers who are paid per mile see different wages depending on experience, the region they work and the company they are working with. Most of the trucking companies pay between $0.28 and $0.40 cents per mile as hinted by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics. HOW MANY HOURS A WEEK DO TRUCK DRIVERS WORK

The work hour window for truck driving jobs is usually used as a “daily” limit though not based on a 24-hour period. You are permited a period of 14 consecutive hours in which you are expected to drive up to 11 hours after 10 or more consecutive hours off duty.

You may be required to work for 70 hours over an eight-day period. After which you cannot drive again until you observe a full 34 hours off duty. Though the 70-hour limit may be attained by 14-hour days, you cannot drive for more than 11 hours per day.
