How long Is Canada PR Valid?

Canada is, without doubt, the major destinations for many highly skilled workers, immigrants, and international students. The Country top the chart as one of the safest place to live in in the world.

Acquiring a Canada PR ensure that you enjoy what the country has to offer in terms of high wage jobs, quality education, good standard of living and many more.

One of the fastest ways to get Canada permanent residency is through Express Entry. After obtaining this Canadian PR and becoming a permanent residence you must meet certain residency obligations to maintain your status as a permanent resident.

Moreover, you can also apply for Canadian citizenship if you have been a permanent resident and physically been in Canada for 3 years in the last 5 years.

How long Is Canada PR Valid?

As far as we know, Canada PR is valid for 60 months or 5 years. If you want to renew or extend your PR after 60 months, you will have to prove that you lived at least 24 months (i.e Two 2 years) in Canada during that 60 months (i.e 5 years) periods. Otherwise, you will lose your PR.

But, if you have been a permanent resident for let’s say less than 5 years and decide to leave the country for a long period of time, it is up to you to prove to IRCC that you will be able to fulfill your residency requirements.

As a holder of Canada PR, you also get to enjoy many benefits.  Aside from the fact you and your family members can live, work, and study anywhere in Canada on a permanent basis, you can also sponsor some eligible members of your family living outside Canada to come and live and work in Canada.

Canada offers subsidized or free education and healthcare benefits to its Permanent residents and citizens. Despite being free, the standard of Canadian education and healthcare is excellent and world class.
