The coronavirus pandemic crisis has had a serious impact on the world economy and its societies. Many Countries are barely surviving the scourge. The pandemic has also affected the immigration of people across the world.

Exemptions have also been enacted and reviewed for certain categories of people that are allowed to enter Canada, such as new permanent residents, temporary foreign workers, international students, immediate family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents, diplomats, representatives, and their immediate family members, etc.
From the humanitarian perspective, Canada has also been very magnanimous in extending her immigration support to Lebanon, especially to people affected by the tragic explosion in the capital city, Beirut. An immigration task force was constituted to support the delivery of consular services to Lebanese nationals.
However, anyone traveling to Canada must quarantine for fourteen (14) days on arrival and be able to present a viable quarantine plan to Canada Border Services Agency officers on arrival.
With all these various stringent measures being put in place by the government, draws are still being held at both the federal and provincial levels.
At the federal level, through the Express Entry System, Canada has set up two-weekly draws, sending out upwards of 3,500 Invitations to Apply each time. While at the provincial level, draws have not stopped. We will see more Provincial nominees draws opened for interested immigration candidates in the month of September.
In addition, many Visa Application Centres (VACs) around the world have been re-opening to provide services to those looking to come to Canada.
The Visa Application centers enable individuals to submit their biometrics as part of the requirements outlined by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Even Canadian citizens who have an immediate need for a passport can once again apply as Canada has resumed passport services for interested individuals.
As a general response, Canada’s immigration system has shown its ability to endure and react during a crisis that has gripped the world. All the above trends point towards a positive signal for increased Canadian immigration activities in the month of September.

British Columbia government invited more than 430 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in a draw conducted September 1.
The British Columbia immigration department continues to exclude occupations in tourism, retail, hospitality, and personal services due to pervasive unemployment in these sectors since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
Invitations were sent to International Graduate and Skilled Worker candidates in the Express Entry BC (EEBC), Skills Immigration (SI) as well as those in Entrepreneur programs.
The EEBC class is for applicants with a valid profile in the federal government’s Express Entry system, which is Canada’s major pathway for skilled immigrants who are hoping to acquire Canadian permanent residence.
The Skills Immigration class is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the British Columbia province.
The minimum score requirements in this draw ranged between Seventy-six (76) and Ninety-eight (98) for the five EEBC and SI categories that were involved.

The Canadian government issued invitations to 4,200 immigration candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence in the new Express Entry draw held September 2.
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) applicants were among today’s successful candidates. The latest Express Entry draw was the third all-program draw held since March 18 and the 162nd overall conducted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in this new invitation round was 475, a lesser than the previous score of 476 in the all-program draw conducted August 5.
The 4,200 invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence is the most issued in an Express Entry round since 4,500 were released before the COVID-19 pandemic during the February 19, 2020 invitation rounds.

British Columbia immigration department invited 67 Immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence through its Tech Pilot on September 8.
The BC PNP Tech Pilot is a fast-track immigration route for in-demand tech workers and international students.
All Tech Pilot applicants invited by the British Columbia Provincial Nominees Program (BC PNP) are required to have a job offer that is at least one year in duration in one of the pilot’s twenty-nine (29) in-demand occupations.
The September 8 draw saw invitations sent out to candidates in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories of the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration programs.
Selected candidates in all the subcategories needed a minimum provincial score of eighty (80).

Manitoba immigration has conducted another invitation round, inviting 212 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence on Sept 10.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited international student graduates and skilled workers through three immigration streams: Skilled Workers Overseas, Skilled Workers in Manitoba, and International Education streams.
Manitoba has sent out 3,511 Letters to 212 immigration candidates in these categories so far in 2020. This was Manitoba’s 98th draw since the program started in April 2014.

British Columbia immigration invited 407 immigration candidates through a provincial nominee program draw conducted on September 15, 2020.
The new invitations were issued to 407 immigration candidates from the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration (SI) streams, specifically the Skilled Workers, International Graduate as well as the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled class.
The minimum scores for this draw ranged between Seventy-five (75) and Ninety-five (95) points.
The EEBC class is for candidates with a valid profile in the Express Entry system, which is Canada’s main immigration pathway for skilled immigrants who are hoping to get Canadian permanent residence.

On September 15, the Saskatchewan immigration authority invited a total of 621 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited 621 candidates from the International Skilled Workers class via two subcategories: Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand subcategory stream.
In order to stand a chance and be considered in this draw, candidates from both sub-categories needed to have filed Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles with the Saskatchewan immigration authority.

The immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a second-consecutive all-program Express Entry draw rolling out Invitations to Apply to 4,200 immigration candidates.
The Sept. 16 draw required at least a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 472 points, three points lesser than the previous all-program Express Entry draw.
This draw, and the previous draw on Sept. 2, are jointly the second-largest Express Entry draws ever.
The largest Express Entry draw took place on Feb. 19, 2020, when 4,500 Invitations To Apply (ITAs) were issued with a minimum CRS score of 470 points.
Holding a second major draw represents a statement of intent by IRCC, that its policy of increasing immigration levels will continue into 2021, despite the coronavirus crisis.

The Prince Edward Island province invited 345 economic immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in a draw conducted on September 17.
After rolling out the largest number of invitations to Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants on August 20, the Prince Edward Island Provincial immigration department distributed yet another record-breaking number of 345 invitations to candidates in all programs on September. 17.
A total of 313 economic immigration candidates in Prince Edward Island (PEI)’s Express Entry and Labour Impact class received invitations in this new draw.
PEI’s provincial nominee program, the PEI PNP, did not reveal specifically how many Express Entry candidates were invited to apply.
Another thirty-two (32) entrepreneur candidates were invited through Prince Edward Island’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.

British Columbia government invited 74 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence on September 22.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Tech Pilot draw held today issued invitations to candidates under the Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories.
Nominated candidates who were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate class required a minimum provincial score of eighty (80).
The Sept. 22 draw saw the lowest score remain in the 80s, as has been the case for Tech Pilot draws since the beginning of May 2020.

Nova Scotia immigration department invited immigration candidates, with special priority given to Automotive industry workers, apply for a provincial nomination on September 24.
The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) had earlier announced the draw’s eligibility criteria for immigration candidates but did not say how many invitations were issued.
Automotive industry workers candidates needed to have a primary occupation in any of the following National Occupational Classifications (NOC) codes: automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanic, and mechanical repairers (NOC 7321) or motor vehicle body repairs (NOC 7322).
Invited candidates need to show that they have two or more years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experiences, in these occupations within the last five years preceding the application.

A new draw conducted by Saskatchewan immigration on September 24 invited 535 candidates to apply for permanent residence.
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) issued invitations to apply to candidates in the Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand categories.
So far, Saskatchewan immigration has invited 2,740 Occupations In-Demand candidates this year. Combined with the 2,245 immigration candidates invited to apply for a provincial nomination via the Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category, the total number of invitations rolled out in 2020 is now just under 5,000.

Manitoba provincial draw invited 189 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
The Manitoba immigration department issued Letters of Advice to apply 189 candidates (skilled workers and international graduates) through three main immigration streams: Skilled Worker in Manitoba, International Education Stream, and Skilled Worker Overseas.
This draw brings the total number of invitations this year up to 3,671.

British Columbia immigration issued 450 new invitations to apply for a provincial nomination in a draw that was held on September 29.
This was British Columbia’s largest draw of 2020, surpassing the over 430 invitations it rolled out in its September 1st draw.
This British Columbia PNP draw saw invitations go to Skilled Workers and International Graduate candidates in both the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams.
The Express Entry BC category is for candidates with a valid profile in the federal Express Entry system, which is Canada’s major pathway for skilled workers who are looking to obtain Canadian permanent residence.
The Skills Immigration category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the British Columbia province.

The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 4,200 immigration candidates a new Express Entry draw held on September 30.
Today’s draw also featured Federal Skilled Worker Program candidates for the third consecutive time.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in this new invitation round was 471, one point lesser than the previous all-program draw, which was conducted on September 16.
A large number of Invitation to Apply (ITA) featured in today’s draw is a strong statement of intent that Canada remains committed to drawing high levels of immigration in 2021 and beyond.
