Express Entry is a major way IRCC manages skilled worker applications. It is possible to get a permanent residence invitation by applying via Express Entry directly. Such invitations are issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). In addition, one can enter the Express Entry pool and then receive an invitation from a Canadian province such as Manitoba.
To enter the Express Entry pool, you need to meet the requirements of one of the three main Express Entry programs (Canada Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program).
You are then ranked based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score that takes into cognizance certain factors like your age, education, work experience, and language skills.
The highest-scoring candidates receive invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws that tend to take place fortnightly.
You gain an extra 600 CRS points if you receive a provincial nomination from Canadian provinces like Manitoba. This practically assures you will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from IRCC.
About the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)
If you want to apply for Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), you need to register an Expression of Interest with the MPNP. This allows you to potentially receive invitations through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams.
Manitoba immigration then ranks immigration candidates out of 1,000 points for their human capital factors as well as the likes of their ties to Manitoba.
The Skilled Workers Overseas Category and Skilled Worker in Manitoba streams are created to allow the province to identify candidates who meet its labor market needs.
Candidates overseas need to show ties to Manitoba through the likes of close family ties, prior experience in Manitoba, or an invitation via one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. You don’t need to be residing in Manitoba at the time of your application to be qualified.
In order to receive an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba class, you need to have a full-time permanent job offer from a provincial employer.
International graduates who complete education in Manitoba can receive Letters under the International Education Stream if they show that they have in-demand skills.
