Mount Allison University, Sackville, Canada

The Mount Allison University is a liberal Arts institution in Canada that was founded in the city of Sackville, New Brunswick in the year 1839. This university was the first to award degree to a woman in the British Empire.

This university was named after Charles Frederick Allison in honour of his enormous contribution to the institution. The first two students of the university were Howard Sprague and Josiah Woodwho graduated in the year 1863.

Mount Allison university had 3 faculties which awarded degrees in 1920. These faculties are Arts, Theology, and Engineering. See below for further details.

About Sackville, New Brunswick

Sackville, New Brunswick is the city where the Mount Allison University is located. In 1970, the first Acadians arrived Sackville and these people mainly came from the western parts of France.

At that time, Acadians military were from French but after they were defeated at the  Battle of Beausejour, they were removed. And this also lead to the removal of the Acadians from the country. The city was abandoned for so many years until 1761 when 25 families from Rhode Island came in. Presently, the new city is in the Mi’kmaq district of Siknikt
