New Brunswick Aims To Increase The Number New Newcomers Every Year

The government of New Brunswick aim to increase the province’s population to one million by 2040.

According to Canadian Press reports, Premier Blaine Higgs discusses the province’s ageing population and labour market shortage during the yearly “state of the province” speech.

The premiere referred to the province’s population growth strategy released this past summer, which says that about 120,000 jobs vacancies will become available in the province over the next decade.

The growth strategy also says that the Province will raise the number of newcomers settling in New Brunswick each year to 7,500 by 2024. But, those numbers were set by the Canada federal government, and Higgs told the audience of business people and reporters that New Brunswick would be aiming for an intake of 10,000 each year.

He said the province is opening new outlets in country’s like India and Europe in order to promote New Brunswick immigration to foreign talent and businesses.

How To Immigrate To New Brunswick Through Express Entry

Foreign citizens who wish to bring their skills, education, and work experience to the province of New Brunswick may qualify for the New Brunswick Express Entry Stream.

The provincial immigration stream is connected with the federal government’s Express Entry system, which control and manages applications through three immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

In order to be eligible for the New Brunswick Express Entry stream, applicants first need to open an Express Entry profile, where they will be allotted a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their education, work experience, age and language proficiency.

If those in the federal pool get a provincial nomination from the New Brunswick Express Entry stream they will receive an extra 600 CRS points. This effectively assures that applicants get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a federal Express Entry draw.

Once applicants are in the Express Entry pool and can meet certain province-specific criteria or requirements they can open an Expression of Interest (EOI) with New Brunswick’s portal.

Occasionally, the province may invite candidates directly from the Express Entry pool in response to labour market needs.
