Newfoundland Launches Four Monthly Rounds For International Entrepreneur Expressions of Interest

Newfoundland & Labrador has announced it will conduct four monthly rounds for its International Entrepreneur Expressions of Interest category between now and the end of 2019.

The province has released the dates of the upcoming period when EOIs can be lodged with the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP).

Those dates are:

  • September 13 to 20.
  • October 11 to 18.
  • November 8 to 15.
  • December 6 to 13.

The International Entrepreneur category is targeted towards individuals who wish to move to and settle in Newfoundland and be involved in the daily runnings of a business they established, join, or take over.

Four International Entrepreneur Expressions of Interest rounds has already been conducted this year, meaning the province will have carried out eight rounds by the end of 2019.

“I advice anyone interested in growing their business in an attractive business environment to know more about this remarkable opportunity to settle and work in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Bernard Davis, provincial Labour Minister.

In the Meantime also, the NLPNP International Graduate Entrepreneur stream remains open indefinitely for EOIs. The stream or category is specifically focused at graduates of Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic.

International Entrepreneur Expressions of Interest Category

The International Entrepreneur category is aimed at experienced business owners or senior business managers who wants to permanently settle in Newfoundland and Labrador. International Entrepreneur Expressions of Interest.

Requirements:

  • Should be Twenty-one (21) to Fifty-nine (59) years of age.
  • Provide a business strategy with verified and approved supporting financial documents.
  • Have at least a Canadian high school diploma or it’s equivalent.
  • Wish to settle permanently in Newfoundland & Labrador while owning and actively operating a business of significant economic value to the province.
  • Have a minimum of $600,000 in unencumbered net business and personal properties that can readily be moved to Canada.
  • Be able to invest a minimum sum of $200,000 to start a business in province with ownership of 33.3 per cent, or $1 million in equity investment.
  • Open a minimum of one full-time job for permanent residents and Canadian citizens
  • Show that the business is a for-profit entity with the primary aim of making profits through the sale of goods and/or services.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience actively operating and owning a business (25 per cent minimum ownership) in the past five years OR five or more years’ experience in a senior business management position in the past ten (10) years.
  • A score of at least Five (5) on the Canadian Language Benchmark in reading, speaking, listening, and writing in French or English (acceptable tests are IELTS, Canadian English Language Proficiency Program (CELPIP) General test or Test d’evaluation de francais (TEF);
  • Submit an online Expression of Interest (EOI).
  • Get an Invitation to Apply (ITA’s)  from the Newfoundland & Labrador Immigration office and Multiculturalism.

International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

The International Graduate Entrepreneur category is targeted at graduates of College of the North Atlantic and Memorial University who has already started or purchased a local business.

Requirements:

  • Should be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Prepare a business plan with verified supporting financial papers.
  • Have finished studies in a degree or diploma program after two academic session of full-time, in-person study at College of the North Atlantic or memorial university with the diploma or degree having been completed within two years of submission of the Expression of Interest.
  • Possess a valid Post-Graduate Work Permit.
  • Have intentions to live permanently in Newfoundland & Labrador while owning and actively operating a business of significant economic value to the province.
  • Have a minimum of one year’s continuous experience actively running and owning the current business (33.3 per cent minimum ownership);
  • Should create at least one full-time job for Canadian permanent residents or citizen.
  • Show that the business is a for-profit earning with the primary aim of maximizing profits through the sale of goods and/or services.
  • Should score at least Seven (7) on the Canadian Language Benchmark in reading, speaking, listening, and writing in French or English;
  • Create and submits an online Expression of Interest.
  • Get an Invitation to Apply (ITA’s) from the Newfoundland & Labrador Immigration office.
