The Northern Alberta Institute Of Technology (NAIT) is a polytechnic and applied sciences institution that is situated in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. A major tourist center. In late 19th century, a settlement began that spread outside the fort. Edmonton was incorporated as a town in 1892, then in 1904 it was incorporated as a city. Edmonton was chosen to be the capital of Alberta in 1905 regardless of its small size. The next year, 1906 the University of Alberta was founded. Edmonton grew very rapidly during the early 20th century. Right from inception, Northern Alberta Institute Of Technology (NAIT) has been a work in progress since planning for the campus began in 1959. NAIT is always evolving just like business and industry. NAIT is still growing till today and reinventing itself in order to meet the needs of students and employers.
The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is the largest apprenticeship trainer in Alberta, and one of the largest in the country. It also offers more than 120 programs leading to certificates, diplomas, baccalaureate degrees, and applied degrees, and all offer experiential or work-integrated learning. NAIT, with three campuses in Edmonton and one in Calgary, serves nearly 60,000 credit and non-credit students annually.
