P.E.I. Invites 345 Economic Immigration Candidates To Apply For Provincial Nomination

The Prince Edward Island province has invited 345 economic immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in a draw conducted on September 17.

After rolling out the largest number of invitations to Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants on August 20, the Prince Edward Island Provincial immigration department distributed yet another record-breaking number of 345 invitations to candidates in all programs on Sept. 17.

A total of 313 economic immigration candidates in Prince Edward Island (PEI)’s Express Entry and Labour Impact class received invitations in this new draw.

PEI’s provincial nominee program, the PEI PNP, did not reveal specifically how many Express Entry candidates were invited to apply.

Another thirty-two (32) entrepreneur candidates were invited through Prince Edward Island’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.

The PEI PNP is a part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program, which allows participating provinces to select a set number of economic immigration candidates for Canadian permanent residence each year.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program has an Express Entry category that is connected with the federal Express Entry system, which manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada’s major in economic immigration categories — the Federal Skilled Trades Class, Federal Skilled Worker Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

Prince Edward Island Express Entry Category

The PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is linked with the federal Express Entry system.

Eligible candidates are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for their age, education, work experience, and language proficiency in English and French.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are granted an extra 600 points toward their CRS score and are practically assures an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in future Express Entry draw.

In order to be considered for a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island province, Express Entry candidates need to open an Expression of interest profile with the PEI PNP.

EOI profiles are granted points based on the province’s unique points grid. The highest-scoring applicants are then invited to apply through monthly draws.

The PEI PNP did not provide an explanation of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants were invited, nor the minimum EOI score require for each category.

Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category is for foreign citizens who have a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island, and have support from their employer. It is divided into three streams: Critical Worker, Skilled Worker, and International Graduate.

Candidates in this category must also lodge an EOI profile in order to be considered for a provincial nomination via the Labour Impact Category.

Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category

The thirty-two (32) candidates who were invited through the Business Impact Category on Sept. 17 needed a minimum EOI score of 102.

These invitations were featured under the Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign businessmen who wish to own and run a business in PEI.
