Home » PEI PNP Invites 150 Immigration Candidates In New Draw

Prince Edward Island immigration department has released the details of its scheduled March 18 draw. 150 immigration candidates were invited to file for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Programs (PEI PNP) sent out a total of 150 invitations.

Most of the invitations, 140, went to Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates. The remaining ten (10) invitations was given to Business Impact candidates who had a minimum point threshold of Seventy (70).

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canada’s provinces and territories to choose immigration candidates who meet their labor market needs. They are sometimes linked with Canada’s federal Express Entry system.

Canada is aiming to welcome 80,800 newcomers through the PNPs this year.

PEI Express Entry Category

The PEI PNP’s Express Entry Class or category is an enhanced PNP, that is to say, it works within the platform of the Canadian government’s Express Entry system.

Express Entry manages the applications for three main economic-class immigration classes: Federal Skilled Trades Program, Federal Skilled Workers Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates are granted a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on certain factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency in English and French.

Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination are given an extra 600 points toward their CRS score and are practically assured an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in an upcoming Express Entry draw.

In order to be considered for a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island Province, Express Entry candidates need to create an Expression of interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.

EOI profiles are awarded points based on the province’s unique points grid. The highest-scoring immigration candidates are then invited to apply via monthly draws.

The PEI PNP did not provide an analysis of how many Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates were issued, nor the minimum EOI score needed for each category.

Labor Impact Category

The Labor Impact Category is for foreign nationals who have a valid employment offer in Prince Edward Island, and have supports from their employer. It is divided into three streams: Critical Worker, Skilled Worker, and International Graduate. Candidates in this category must also lodge an EOI profile to stand a chance to get the provincial nomination through the Labor Impact Category.

Business Impact Category

The Ten (10) candidates who were invited through the Business Impact Category required a minimum EOI score of Seventy (70). These invitations were released under the Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in the province.
