Prince Edward Island has released its anticipated 2021 draw dates for its Expression of Interest system, with the first expected on Thursday, 21st January.
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Programs (PEI PNP) plans to hold monthly draws throughout the year.
Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest manages the province’s immigration streams for Labour Impact, Express Entry, and Business Impact candidates.
Monthly draws were interrupted from March to August 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prince Edward Island began conducting more periodical draws in response to the crisis.
However, the monthly patterns resumed later in the year.

Of the 2020 invites, 1,742 were sent to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates, with the remaining 213 given to Business Impact candidates.
Prince Edward Island Express Entry Category
The PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is linked with the federal Express Entry system.
Express Entry manages the applications for three economic-class immigration streams: Federal Skilled Trades Program, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
Eligible candidates are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for their age, education, work experience, and language proficiency in English and French.
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are granted an extra 600 points toward their CRS score and are practically assures an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in future Express Entry draw.
EOI profiles are granted points based on the province’s unique points grid. The highest-scoring applicants are then invited to apply through monthly draws.
The PEI PNP did not provide an explanation of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants were invited, nor the minimum EOI score requires for each category.
Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category
The Labour Impact Category is for foreign citizens who have a valid job offer in Prince Edward Island and have support from their Canadian employer. It is divided into three streams: Critical Worker, Skilled Worker, and International Graduate.
Candidates in this category must also lodge an EOI profile in order to be considered for a provincial nomination via the Labour Impact Category.
Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category
Work Permit Stream
People applying under the P.E.I. Work Permit Stream must obtain a Canadian work permit and work for a Prince Edward Island business for a certain amount of time as designated under a Performance Agreement.
After the Performance Agreement is met, the applicant must establish at least $150,000 worth of investment in the business and be available to manage the business on a daily basis from within P.E.I.
Previously, P.E.I. operated direct permanent residence business streams, but these were truncated in September 2018 due to immigration fraud concerns.
