Prince Edward Island Postpones March Expression Of Interest Draw

Prince Edward Island postpones issuance of invitations to immigration candidates indefinitely.

The Prince Edward Island postpones the March 19 Expression of Interest (EOI) draw. Their office is currently closed as a result of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, according to their website.

They did not give a new date for this draw, but, the upcoming Expression of Interest draw is set for April 16.

Generally, PEI carries out about one provincial nomination invitation round every month. Draws take place on an anticipated schedule. This year PEI has sent out 276 invitations from draws in January and February.

The monthly draw information normally includes results from the following three (3) PEI PNP categories:

PEI Express Entry Category

The PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is connected with the Canadian federal government’s Express Entry System, which manages the applications for three economic class immigration class: the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry applicants create profiles that are put into a pool and are allotted a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for human capital factors such as age, work experience, educational qualifications, and official language proficiency.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are granted an extra 600 points toward their CRS score and are effectively assures an Invitation from the Canadian government in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

In order to be considered for a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island, Express Entry candidates are required to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.

Labour Impact Candidates

The Labour Impact Category is for foreign citizens who have an eligible job offer in Prince Edward Island and have support from their employers. It is divided into three streams: Critical Worker, Skilled Worker and International Graduate.

Candidates in this category must also lodge an Expression of Interest profile in order to be considered for a provincial nomination.

Business Impact Category

Prince Edward Island issues work permits to certain entrepreneurs who lodge an EOI profile under the Work Permit program.

Qualified candidates must show that they intend to own and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.

Those who are nominated under this stream have to meet a set EOI score requirement that is set for each draw.
