Queen’s University also known simply as Queen’s is a public designated research university founded in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. English Language Proficiency Test Scores

At Queen’s University, English is the language of instruction therefore, as an aspiring student you must be able to communicate proficiently in English both in writing and orally.

Queen’s University Student Visa Requirements

As a student completing your IB diploma, you may be considered for admission at Queen’s University provided you meet the following criteria:

  • Pass at least six subjects, with not less than three at the Higher Level, and accumulate a minimum total grade of 28, this does not include bonus points.
  • The six subjects undertaken must comprise the mandatory courses of HL or SL English, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • A minimum predicted final score of four in English is required.
  • A maximum of 18 units may be granted for HL courses completed with a score of five or greater notwithstanding the IB diploma has been completed or not.

Denial of Application for Admission

Scholarship at Queen’s University

Queen’s University is home to international students from over 100 countries. Yearly, more than two-thirds of Queen’s incoming candidates are supported through Queen’s University Scholarships and the external scholarships accepted at the university.

  • Queen’s Entrance Scholarships are mainly awarded to International students.
  • 95% of Queen’s University Scholarships are based on auto-consideration.
  • Applications for admission to Queen’s University are used as criteria for the scholarship.
  • Students in Master’s programs are only granted scholarships offered by their chosen faculty.
  • Whereas Doctoral students often receive a minimum funding of $18,000 CAD.

Queen’s University Scholarships for Bachelor Students

International students at the undergraduate level at Queen’s are considered for admission scholarships. Each year, more than 50% of bachelor program students receive Queen’s University Scholarships.

External Scholarships Accepted at Queen’s University

Queen’s University Scholarships for Doctoral Students

Queen’s doesn’t provide Scholarships to doctoral students, aside from the International tuition Award. The scholarship valued at 5000 CAD is granted to all incoming international doctoral students.

Scholarship Value

The minimum funding offering for a Ph.D. program is $18,000/year. However, if you are already a recipient of an external award, you will not receive the full $18,000 along with the external funding, nevertheless, your funding package may likely be higher than others who do not win external awards.

On a norm, if you apply for and you successfully obtain a teaching/or research assistantship, your average funding as an eligible student will be approximately 25,000/year.

As a graduate who wants to be considered for teaching assistance or graduate teaching fellow as part of your funding, you are required to apply.

How to Apply

The first step is to apply for the Ph.D. program. A minimum funding offer will be communicated to applicants after the receipt of an offer of admission, and details provided in June.
