Registration for FY 2024 H-1B cap starts March 1

The initial registration session for the fiscal year FY 2024 H-1B cap will start at noon Eastern time on March 1st and extend until noon Eastern time on March 17th of 2023, as stated in a press release issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on January 27th. This information will prove useful for all or any individual filing for either a Family-based Immigration Visa or an Employment-based immigration Visa. The online H-1B registration system will allow prospective petitioners and representatives to complete and upload their registrations.

For the FY 2024 H-1B cap, each registration submitted will be given a Confirmation Number. This number cannot be used to check the status of your case in Case Status Online; it can only be used to track registrations.

Registration for the FY 2024 H-1B cap

Prospective FY 2024 H-1B cap-subject petitioners or their representatives must pay the $10 H-1B registration fee for each registration made on behalf of each or any beneficiary. Each beneficiary must be electronically registered for the selection process using a myUSCIS account. Prospective petitioners (U.S. employers and U.S. agents, generally known as “registrants“) who submit their personal registrations will use a “registrant” account. With that, registrants must note that new accounts can only be created starting, noon Eastern on February 21st.

While representatives can add clients to their accounts at any time, registrants and representatives alike must hold off until March 1st to provide beneficiary information and submit the registration along with the $10 registration fee.

In a single online session, prospective petitioners or their representatives would be able to register several beneficiaries, and create, update, and store draft registrations through the account, before making the final payment and submitting each registration.

Suppose sufficient registrations are received by March 17th. In that case, they will be a random selection, and registrants or representatives will be notified via their myUSCIS online accounts. But in the case where the registration submitted is not sufficient, all valid registrations that were received within the initial registration period will be selected. And by March 31st, all account holders will be notified.

Card Transaction Limits

The U.S. Department of Treasury temporarily increased the daily credit card transaction limit for the FY 2024 H-1B cap season from $24,999.99 to $39,999.99 daily. As the number of prior H-1B registrations exceeded the daily credit card limit, this prompted a temporary increase.

Only petitioners whose registration for the beneficiary specified in the H-1B petition was chosen during the H-1B registration process are permitted to submit an FY 2024 H-1B cap-subject petition, along with a petition for a beneficiary who qualifies for the advanced degree exemption.

Before the initial H-1B registration period begins, more details on this will be made available.
