Saskatchewan PNP Draw Invites 280 Immigration Candidates

On July 21, Saskatchewan held a new draw, inviting 280 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

Candidates who may be eligible for a nomination under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), specifically the International Skilled Worker category, were sent invitations.

Of the 280 immigration candidates, 84 candidates may be qualified for the SINP’s Express Entry subcategory, while 196 may be qualified for the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.

In order to be invited, candidates had to have an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of at least 77, regardless of the stream.

They also need Educational Credential Assessments to prove that their overseas education met Canadian standards.

Work experience in one of the 63 in-demand occupations listed on the government’s website is also required.

Express Entry sub-category

In this new invitation round, Saskatchewan sent out 84 invitations to candidates who had valid profiles in the federal Express Entry pool.

Saskatchewan’s Express Entry sub-category is aligned to the federal Express Entry system, which manages the pool of applicants for three of Canada’s main economic-class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Trades Class, Federal Skilled Worker Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

If candidates in the federal Express Entry pool also filled out an Expression of interest for Saskatchewan, and they scored seventy-seven (77) on the SINP’s Points Assessment Grid they may have been selected in the latest draw.

Express Entry candidates who apply for and obtain a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan province are awarded an extra 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score at the federal level, and are practically assured an invitation to apply for permanent residence, as most invitation rounds invite candidates with scores above 470.

The same goes for anyone of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs that are linked with Express Entry.

Occupations In-Demand Subcategory

The Occupations In-Demand sub-category is a base Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which means it is open to immigrants without an Express Entry profile.

This sub-category is for highly skilled employees with experience in a Saskatchewan-demanded occupation but has not yet been offered a position in the province.

Foreign nationals must build an EOI profile through the SINP’s online application system in order to apply for Canadian immigration through this sub-category.

The EOI system in Saskatchewan enables the province to select immigration candidates who have the potential to thrive in the prairie province.

Candidates will be assessed on how their work experience, age, education, language ability, and connections to the province shows their ability to live in Saskatchewan.

They are then awarded a score out of 100 based on the SINP’s International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid.

The highest-scoring immigration candidates are then given an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency in Canada.
