Sudbury, Ontario Open To Applications For Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot

Sudbury in Ontario has opened its application procedure for workers and Canadian employers through the Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot.

The north-eastern Ontario city will first target the services and tourism and mining supply sectors. Applications from all sectors will also be accepted from candidates already residing in Sudbury.

Officials have released a list of twenty (20) target occupations through the RNIP.

Sudbury located in Ontario is one of eight communities to launch its website for the pilot program. The others are Claresholm in Alberta, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay in Ontario, Vernon in British Columbia, plus Brandon and Altona/Rhineland in Manitoba.

Requirements for Job-Offer

  • The job offer has to be for a full-time and permanent position for a minimum of 1,560 hours a year and thirty (30) hours per week.
  • Remunerations must conform to the prevailing wage for the job being offered.

Employer Requirements

The employer must:

  • Be stationed within Sudbury or within a commutable distance.
  • Must have been in active business in Sudbury for a minimum of one year.
  • Satisfy officials that plans has been made to fill the position with a local candidate.
