Thompson Rivers University Admission Process For International students

TRU admits 3,500 international students every semester from more than 100 countries.

New international students and applicants at TRU receive a prompt application and registration assistance from the TRU International Admissions team.

If you want to get admission into Thompson Rivers University as an international student, you must go through the following process

Step 1: Apply online with a non-refundable application fee of CAD$100 which will be required to complete your application on the EPBC website.

Step 2: Upload all required documents and transcripts – (please note that your application cannot be processed if there are missing requirements).

Step 3: If you are a successful applicant, you will receive a conditional acceptance letter. This process normally takes one week.

Step 4: Make your full commitment fee payment and courier your original/official transcripts to International Admissions.

Step 5: You will receive a final acceptance letter that you can use to apply for a Student Visa/Study Permit.

  • any post-secondary institutions you have attended must be included with the application.

Thompson Rivers University Admission requirements for international students

International students who are applying for admission into TRU are required to meet minimum English language proficiency requirements for direct entry into academic programs.

International students may meet this condition by either providing an acceptable English language proficiency test score (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) or by achieving an acceptable score on the TRU English Placement Test (EPT). Students must complete this test before the commencement of the application.

Students must send the test scores to TRU to verify all English language proficiency test scores. They must have an official copy sent directly to TRU Admissions from the testing agency.

Those who fail to achieve the results for direct entry into academic programs will be placed in the appropriate level of English language study as indicated below.

A student must meet or exceed the required level on all aspects to be at any specific level (for example, for the TOEFL, direct entry students must have an overall score of 88+ and all sections at least 20). When sub-scores are used, a good mark in one area will not compensate for a poor mark in another.

Students who do not meet the requirements for direct entry are required to write the TRU placement test to determine their appropriate placement in ESAL.

TRU is currently accepting Duolingo as proof of English Proficiency Requirements which is applicable to applications received before August 31, 2022.
