Western University Scholarships For International Students are many and the qualifications for each of the scholarships vary.
As part of the National Scholarship Program, three scholarships worth $50,000 each are available to exceptional international students.
Selection is based on outstanding academic performance, creative and innovative thought, and significant achievement in extracurricular activities.
Students must complete a National Scholarship application which includes an essay and a nomination from their school. The application is available in mid-November.

Tuition Fee Guarantee for international undergraduate students
Starting September 2021, Western’s tuition rates for undergraduate international students will not increase more than 4% per year, after year 1, as students progress through their undergraduate degrees at Western.

English Language Support for international students
International students who do not meet up with their requirements in the English language have other supports which can help them meet up to the expectations for admission into Western University.
Western English Language Centre (WELC)
For students who do not yet meet Western’s English Language Proficiency test requirements, they can choose to enroll in Western English Language Centre to upgrade their English language skills: speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
If you need to improve your English skills before studying at Western but you are not able to meet up Western’s academic requirements, you can get help from WELC.
Western English Language Centre’s Academic English Program will prepare you for university by helping you develop communicative skills – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – in conjunction with the cultural knowledge required to thrive in Western’s demanding academic environment. When you successfully complete the High Advanced Level of the English Language program, it becomes acceptable proof of your English language proficiency.
Applying to Western English Language Centre may qualify you for a conditional offer from Western University.
A conditional offer allows the student to begin studying at Western after he or she has completed the assigned English studies with Western English Language Centre.
English Boost Program
The English Boost program is designed for students who have been offered conditional admission to Western based on their academic background and who do not meet Western’s English language proficiency requirements are advised to go for the English Boost Program.
This lasts for the nine-week program starting in early July, before the start of undergraduate degree programs in September, this program helps the students to get the ‘boost’ they need to succeed in their degree.
Boost is more than just a language program. Student success is cultivated by developing communication skills – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – in combination with the cultural knowledge required to succeed in Western’s demanding academic environment.
We will help you to become familiar with Western’s campus, facilities, processes, and university life, and will regularly provide experiences beyond the classroom at locations off campus and throughout Ontario.
English Support for Western Students
Western has a variety of additional services to help you succeed in an English-speaking academic environment.
English Conversation Program
Non-native English speakers have who need improvement in their English for conversational purposes will need the English Conversion Program.
There are many friendly English conversation leaders who volunteer their time to facilitate regular group discussions and answer your questions about English.
Summer Academic Writing Clinic
This is a three-day program aimed at preparing international students to write at the university level.
Writing Support Centre
The Writing Support Centre provides a wide range of free services to help students to realize their potential as writers.
It includes appointments, drop-in services, workshops, seminars, an online writing lab, and the Summer Academic Writing Clinic.
